New Winona machinery

Recommended Posts

So I saw another thread about Winona's skill tree ideas, and decided to make one as well, except I don't wanna bother to make a full tree(not like I'd have enough ideas for ~25 skills), so I'll just focus on brainstorming various buildings and machinery, since that's what I'd like to see in the tree, hopefully. Feel free to critique, as well as suggest your own ideas!

Anyway, starting on:

Delivery Drone Base

- so, originally I thought they could work by picking up items around the "base" you've built and storing them in its built-in storage, as long as it is powered by a generator, but since WOBOT is a thing now, I think they could put items straight to chests just like it. WOBOT is nice, but it's only 1 per world and is rather slow. Drones of course would also have the benefit of flying, so could potentially be used on the ocean maybe? But it comes at a cost of having to keep the generator powered up, obviously.

Sprinkler

- keeps the farm plots around it hydrated, slightly cools down and slowly raises wetness of survivors nearby, keeps the plants in its radius from withering in summer and stops smoldering, can extinguish fires. I am unsure whether it should require being refilled with water(maybe with a watering can or ice) or maybe even having a source of water* nearby, similarly to sprinkler in Hamlet(minus the pipes blocking structure placement), but I think it'd be a nice utility building to help with gardening or keeping some smaller builds safer in summer.

*IF the sprinkler would require a water source, it'd make sense for it to be fresh water, however, there aren't always gonna be ponds around, so what do we do? Salt-water filter! OK, this one's pretty silly, but hear me out, when placed near the ocean tiles, this building, while powered, acts as a source of fresh water, meaning you can fill your cans in it, as well as it acting as a suitable source for sprinkler. It would slowly produce salt while active as well. Idk, I feel like this one's kinda too niche and specific, so if it were in context of a skillset, I'd just put it in the same skill as sprinkler.

Power lines

- extends the reach of your generator, allowing for more liberty in how you power your other buildings(for example, if you don't wanna take up space by the farm plots with the generator to power up the sprinkler, you could build the generator and the power line outside of the garden). Now, this one is pretty simple in what it does, but there's some things to think over. I don't think it'd be good if you could just power up like, 50 catapults with one G.E.M.erator using those(I know it'd also drain the generators power quicker, but it's just be kinda lame and look weird), so, maybe it'd make sense to put a limit on how many contraptions a generator can power? Make it a bit more than you can currently cram in the generator's range, so it doesn't conflict with existing mechanics. Idk, it's a simple building on paper, but there's still stuff to think over.

Space heater

- slightly heats up survivors in a pretty decent radius(maybe something like the flingomatic?), not enough to heat them or thermal stones up much, but enough to keep survivors in range from taking cold damage. I think this one might need something more, similar to sprinkler, but at the same time, perhaps it needs to be a little expensive, as it is kinda like a side grade to dfly's furnace (can't cook on it and it has lower heat, but bigger radius).

Scrap ideas: I think having some crafts that use Wagstaff's scrap could be cool, but not sure what these crafts could be. Perhaps Winona's lunar alignment could be Wagstaff teaching her to craft some cool contraption using scrap and lunar materials?

Scrapped ideas:

- Infinite generator made with an iridescent gem. Originally I thought of it as a way to make spotlights an infinite light source late game, but I just don't think this works well. Plus having more character exclusive crafts that require iridescent gems might be bad now that they're required for progression. G.E.M.erators are enough, I think.

- Electric pot, just a quicker crock pot that requires electricity. Pretty boring, steps into Warly’s territory a bit, and honestly just not a very good idea overall.

Lovely suggestions! I would like to share my random Winona machine idea: It's a spring board(?) a big flat board almost as big as a tile if you or enemies step on it or place a statue on it it will throw the target in a set direction about 1-3 tiles indicated by a painted on arrow or something of course it can be rotated with the one and only fencing sword probably has to be powered with a generator (idk why i had this idea kinda sounded funny but who knows how useful it would be)

Honestly I'd love to see some fun things like that.
