Give all funcaps abilities

Recommended Posts

Since Toadstool's such a resource-intensive boss, funcaps having strong effects would be balanced, in my opinion.

For instance, you could give the blue one something to do with health. Maybe it makes healing sources a little more effective? That'd make it different from jellybeans. It could just make blue caps heal for an extra 15 HP (so they heal for 35 instead of 20) and it'd still be pretty good, something you just switch to before healing for a quick health boost that makes your blue caps almost as good as pierogis.

Wearing a red funcap could negate all the downsides to mushroom consumption, allowing you to eat red caps for hunger, blue for health, and cooked green for sanity without giving up other stats. You'd still need to either visit the mushtree biomes or use mushroom planters for all those mushrooms if you want them to be your main form of stat restoration.

Maybe the green one inverts the sanity-related stats of foods? It'd turn green caps into a very strong sanity food, but more interestingly, it'd let a Wigfrid stay insane more easily while fighting Celestial Champion by eating jelly salads (the leafy meat in those makes them count as meat, so she can eat them), surf 'n turf, or other high-sanity meat foods.

Red funcap: Deal 15% more damage, but take 15% more.

While in Sumer: Deal 30% more damage, but take 30% more.

The take extra damage thing lasts for 10 seconds after taking it off to avoid people cheesing it by just taking it off.

Doesnt really work since people will just equip them once to eat some food and then throw them away. They should be hats to wear.

People aren't going to wear any hat instead of head slot armor unless the hat's just completely overpowered. It's like how everyone prefers either backpacks or mags for the chest slot.

They will wear it if they want to. Funcaps already give a 25% hunger drain slow, so wearing them is benificial.

When it comes to combat, you can equip your helmet. Not a biggie
