Jakepeng99
I have done a Wigfrid beefalo run. I enjoyed it and used the startling and rude songs aswel, so i will explain my experience and the reasonings. The main thing i like about Wigfrid is that every single skill has the potential to be useful and impactful (besides from one). Though, when playing i noticed some issues and ways to improve them, starting with the beefalo: Beefalo I had fun, it fits Wigfrid's playstyle and makes her feel like a warrior bard. Klei was stepping in the right direction after adding the passive inspiration gain while on a beefalo, but stopped going forward. Rider beefalo works well for Wigfrid, though there should be more skills to make her better in combat with beefalo since she is the combat character. It could be as simple as adding the 25% extra damage or defence, bringing back the planar skill in a new variation, or be more complex. In regards with the saddle, it is decent but not worth picking (without considering Wigfrid being better on foot). It could have a special ability attached, though i am unsure how to touch this. Another bonus note that ties into the next section is the beefalo song synergy. The health the beefalo heals from the healing song should be increased to be noticable. The sainity song could come with an extra perk of increasing the beefalo's obedience when hitting a mob. I was aiming for a rider beefalo in my playing time, though i still used it in combat to save some resources (it was not fully tamed). It feels good to use in combat, though is meaningless when compared to Wigfrid on foot, which is why even a simple 25% damage increase alone at the very least would help so much. Startling Song I found some decent use with the startling song when using a combination with the beefalo skills and the fighting words. It had some minor but impactful use in combat, though most the time i would just scare birds for fun. However, this song is still underpowered and deserves to be at its full potential, it pales in comparison to Maxwell's . The suggested improvments would be increasing the time the mobs are panicked by a decent amount, and a bonus would be making panicked mobs take 25% more damage as long as they are still panicking. I felt this would fit very well with these buffs when fighting with an ally against a horde of spiders for some food, and they agreed. Rude Song (Yes i can't remember the names) In the same situation with the spiders, i used this to draw aggro away from my ally when they were overwhelmed. It worked though never felt nessisary, however for what it did it felt good to use on the beefalo due to their mobility. There are a few other utilities though, like farming volt goats, though this one is the hardest to fix. I do have an idea of what could work well, maybe the mobs affected deal 25% less damage to Wigfrid for a little while? This would synergise with the aggro pulling effect Wigfrid's Alignments Keep in mind, I have not had a chance to try them out in the world i was playing since CC was not dead yet, so i will just give a quick little comment on them. Though, my main complaint is that both are damage/defence bonuses, where lunar mostly dominates due to shadow creatures being way more prominent everywhere. So, it would be more interesting if the songs had a unique mini perk to go along with them besides the decent damage/defence bonuses (Another solution is adding more prominant pre-riff lunar mobs). She is the combat character so it would be nice if it was a little more than stats, but the songs are still decent and can go without changes. However, i do know that shadow wigfrid and lunar wigfrid combind well together since they can apply both the defence and damage boost at one time, i want to try this combo out at some point. Bonus Quick Notes 1. Wigfrid's song holder should work like the brightshade crown and not drop onto the ground when opening: ▪This would allow Wigfrid to easily select her songs in battle without having to stop in place, and then pick it back up again. 2. Fire Flatsello now has a niche, but needs more situations for it to shine: ▪The beefalo strategy allows you to have some songs active at all time which is useful for fire farms, and the song was changed to give 100% resistance to fires. Now it feels like there just needs to be more sources of fire damage in the game for this song to shine, since there are very few. (Incase you did not know, it makes you take 33% less damage from enraged dragonflies attacks, so fire attacks will work too) Though, admittedly it is useful with Willow by removing her anti-synergy in teamplay (depends on if Willow should have this anti-synergy in the first place) 3. Commander helm planar defence skill is useless (this is the useless skill i was alluding to): ▪There is not any reason to use the commander helm post-riff. It is worse than all the planar headgear obtainable at that time. I suggest either reworking this skill to make it properly be viable against other post-riff options, or replacing the skill with something different. There will probably be more problems, though these are the problems i specifically encountered during my play time in a multiplayer world, aswell as a few other notes. I hope some of these issues get addressed, as Wigfrid's skilltree has the potential of being on of the best and is on the right track. In my testing, beefalo doesn't get any healing from the song. I tested both when Wig has full hp and low hp. In my testing, wig's beefalo gets zero synergy from any of her songs. Not even affinity song. And that's the sad part. No. Because I did another fresh test before posting my previous comment.
