In any world you can find 1-2 waterlogged biomes, which have been infested with merms.

In these biomes you can find roots, which have special veggies called Spongefrobs growing on them.

To grow these yourself, you must trade a banana bush with Steve in exchange for a Spongefrob sapling. To use it you must place it on a knobbly tree. Planting it will cause roots to surround the tree, growing the produce.

The spongefrob regrows every 6 days, with a harvest of 3. can be sped up by Wickerbottom's books.

The spongefrob is an edible food item.

When dried, it no longer becomes edible, instead it turns into a crafting material.

Kitchen sponge RECIPE:

[Dried spongefrob] x 4

[Rope] x 2

The [Kitchen sponge], when used on a pond, sucks it up, the sponge turns into a [Wet Kitchen sponge].

It works for both swamp -, frog - and cave ponds.

The [Wet Kitchen sponge], if used on any available land, will create a pond depending on the source. Afterward it will turn back into a [Kitchen sponge].

Alternatively, you can use it on yourself to remove 50 Wetness instantly, if you're that desperate.

It has 3 uses.

Sponge bomb x 5 RECIPE:

[Dried spongefrob] x 3

[Gunpowder] x 1

[Kelp] x 3

The [Sponge bomb], when used on water tiles, will convert the water tile into a coastal one.

The item is good for dock kits, as they are only placeable on coastal water.

Flood bomb x 5 RECIPE:

[Sponge bomb] x 5

[Water balloon] x 1

The [Flood bomb], when used, will increase an ocean tile's depth by 1.

It's essentially the inverse of the Sponge bomb.

Commercial sponge RECIPE:

[Kitchen sponge] x 1

[Pure brilliance] x 2

[Brightshade husk] x 2

The [Commercial sponge] can move the hot springs on lunar island.

The hot springs can only be placed on moon turf and function the same. Saladmanders will eventually respawn near it when killed.

- My thoughts - 

The purpose of this is to make a convenient way for world ponds and water to be even more customizable. Sometimes ponds can get in the way of a build or if you're a lil creative, be used build a spa.

Making docks that aren't magically cut off by a random speck of non coastal water would also be neat.
