From a more survival oriented perspective, this game could really use some variety in world generation

Sorry for like, the 4 posts in a row, anyone who happens to be following me with notifications on, lol.

Something I've been thinking about a decent amount the past few days is how static DST worlds tend to be. The game tries really really hard to maintain consistency with the biomes around the world, most of the ones you'll get are practically guaranteed, save for fringe cases like a second deciduous or a tiny swamp in a forest. In DST, the spawn around the portal is especially consistent with various tiny slices of biome all specifically spawning there, which is fair to maintain a level of fairness for people spawning in, but I digress.

I think that this consistency leads to a certain kind of staleness in my DST survival experience. Practically every option under the sun is laid right at my fingertips for me to run wild with, which can be fun, and with a certain amount of restraint, I can do a lot of things by just focusing on X and trying not to touch Y, but I think it would also be nice if there were times where I was forced to go a certain route for the sake of my survival.

Oxygen not included is a game that I quite enjoy, having 12.7 thousand hours in it. One of the many things I enjoy about it is how varied the means of survival can be. There are various ways to manifest oxygen/food in that game, and that can largely depend on what materials you have in your surroundings. Much to it's benefit, ONI also operates on a scenario-start sort of system, where you can choose various asteroids that all have different resource variety and in different quantities, many of them outright barring you from certain resources, and forcing you to try to live without them either forever or for a certain amount of time.

The amount of mileage I have received from that system (as well as the companion mod "Cluster Generation Manager" for even more customization!) is not to be understated, and I really wish that DST had something like it, more themed than just toggling off carrots. Do y'all get me? Have you ever had any ideas for a sort of unique world in DST that might offer a different survival experience?

Yep. Wanted a world generation overhaul for a long time now. (12.7k hours in ONI? it's my favorite game of all time but it turns my brain to mush so I only have a meager 892hr.)

I have the Dwarf Fortress gene.

i would love it if the game had like more like preset challenges for worlds, kinda like lights out but like a lot more of them ToT, stuff that like changes game mechanics to make it more challenging and add some more spice to the game

TBF, I think it's about time..I play console..and have been itching to create that perfect world without having to regen 100's if not 1000's of times...I rarely ever get those set pieces I want..or I get them in bad biomes, or the world generates weird...and the worm holes are bad etc etc. I've played into 4k hrs+ and to have more control over customization would freshen up gameplay for me personally.

Just my 2cents
