changing and adding new dishes to dst

Recommended Posts

change the recipe for this dish Broth on the bones, replacing the onions with carrots, so that Varli’s recipes are varied and there is not a lot of onions in his different dishes
and I would also like to suggest adding new dishes so that fewer recipes for meatballs are acceptable and that when adding meat x2 and mushrooms x2 it would be not meatballs but Mushroom Meat, I wanted to suggest this due to the fact that there are few vegetarian dishes in the game for Wurth, ratatouille and jam give very bad stats, so I would like to see more dishes added to the game and there would be more varied recipes for dishes, especially vegetarian dishes, so that in winter it would be normal Wurth to also stock up on hila from dishes, Fruit mix, chestnuts do not fall in winter, and so on

First, congratulations for recognizing the importance of onions.  So many servers, someone gardens and everyone ends up making stuffed eggplant in the crock pot.  What a waste!

Onions are the bar you have to achieve in order to unlock many of the better dishes.  You have to garden to get them.  Not one garden, but usually about 3 generations of plants before you have a quantity of onions you can count on.  No character but Wurt would ever need to garden if it weren't for the importance of Onions and Garlic.  I dig up Peppers as a waste of space if Warly isn't playing.  I don't garden anymore unless either of those characters is playing, but then I don't often play on a server with a lot of other people.

Meatballs is the easy dish to get people started.  Once you can make better dishes (Bacon and Eggs or Pierogi depending on your play style), meatballs becomes the cheap survival dish you look down on... until it's the only thing that will save your life.  This game is really hard.  I appreciate the few easy things thrown my way.

Ratatouille and jam are traps for the unwary.  Not as bad as Monster Lasagne, but generally net losses nonetheless.

Wurt gets +15 hunger for veggies.  I've played as Wurt with gardening, but without a crock pot.  Raw Pumpkin gives Wurt 52.5 Hunger.  Roasted tomato/potato/eggplant: 20 health.  A fish in her inventory and a top hat are about enough for sanity.  I mean, a Tam o' Shanter is awesome.  I don't know why I didn't get one in that game.  Maybe I was saving it for winter because I didn't know about the Sewing Kit yet?

Wurt with a crock pot?  Search for the word, "Vegetarian" on this page:

I guess one thing I like about this game is to pause my single-player game when I'm starving and insane in the ruins and it's mid-summer and there's no way I'm going to the surface world.  I can't find a single banana (for banana shakes) and I'm gonna die if I don't fix my sanity.  I need to think creatively to see that I can make so much Ratatoulle, which is normally really bad, that it will bring me back to sanity.  I spend like 1/4 my games on the Wiki, half of that sorting the Food/Table article and 1/4 of that on Farm_Plant#Summary

More recipes?  There are something like 96 regular crock pot recipes and 13 Warly-specific ones, plus  3 or 4 spices.  Of those, maybe 13 of the regular dishes are generally useful, maybe 5 of Warly's and 2 spices.

You're right that most of these dishes make little sense.  But that comes from the culture that made this game.  If you find a game that's just as fun where this kind of thing does make sense, please let me know.  I think the fun comes when you make sense of it?

Yeah, Birchnuts are tough.  If you want to make trail mix, your best bet is to fight Bee Queen for Bundling Wrap so when you do collect a bunch of them, they'll stay fresh forever.  Chop mature (2-branch) Birch trees in fall (recruit pigs to do it for you) to spawn Poison Birch Trees and Birchnutters, or at least get the most nuts you can if they don't spawn.  Carefully kill the nutters and bundle-wrap stacks of nuts for the rest of the year.

When I last researched this, I concluded that it was too hard.  So I carried Figatoni and had to return to base all the time to cook more.  I could feed it to Walter or his Beefalo.  I wanted Bundling Wrap so I could travel for longer.  Defeating Bee Queen as Walter on a Beefalo was hard!  Especially dismounting because the fight lasts longer than the buck timer on a tamed beefalo.  Also the hound waves.  I used the wall method with marble ammo, practiced in a throwaway world, did a lot of rollbacks in my real world, but got there in the end.

Anyway, when I get to next fall in that world, I'll try again, because when birchnutters do spawn, you can get a lot of nuts.
