buff startling soliloquy

this song needs a buff outside of the skill tree. Simply increasing the durability of the effect to 1.5 or 2 more seconds would make a huge difference. Right now is a waste of time, the casting animation is practically as long as the fear effect duration

there are few situations where this song could be useful but right now is completely useless

it should be an item to take into account

I wish some balancing changes like that had been done to characters before the skill trees became a thing.

It's clear that the path the character reworks took changed a lot throughout the years, just compare reworks like Willow and Winona (which were specifically aimed at fixing problems with those characters that the entire playerbase agreed were faulty), to more recent ones like Maxwell and Wickerbottom (which were aimed specifically at making said characters more powerful since they had no problems in the first place).

It's clear that when Wigfrid was reworked, Klei's intention was to try holding off on buffs and just introduce a few new mechanics, and as such we got a bunch of situational items that can be used in situational scenarios, all while trying to avoid a power boost. Sure, some songs can be powerful (Weaponized Warble and Heartrending Ballad are great!), but they are situational and not straight up a buff. And then later reworks were all about the power boosts. I mean, Maxwell's Shadow Sneak is quite literally Startling Soliloquy, but it lasts 4x as long and can also turn them into their shadow forms, all without the limitation of the Inspiration meter..

Thus when Klei decided to go from the reworks straight into Skill Trees, we now get them trying to fix that discrepancy in reworks by using skill trees... which kinda works, but kinda doesnt.

Let's look at Woodie, a bunch of his skills are basically attempts to fixing problems people have with his rework, but they now cost Insight points. You need 3 points to stop mid-charge as the Moose, and 4 points to not starve after a transformation. There are some great buffs on his tree, for sure, but you can see that a bunch of them were just trying to fix the problems the rework had, which could have been fixed before the skill tree...

And now Wigfrid, her skill tree is pretty much "Let's just give her a new rework and forget about the other one", which is not something i particularly dislike, as this skill tree feels like what her rework should have been in the first place, but the fact the songs are there and get just ignored is kind of meh in the end...

or even worst by adding changes to fire mechanic asked many times for just one character and behind choosing a perk in the skill tree...
