It's so nice to see that you guys actually include Wilson to the discussion. He's always forgotten and never compared to the rest when it comes to skill trees so thank you for that. As for the Wormwood, I don't really play him but I have to say that it's so sad to see how he lost five potential unique abilities to just plant crafting. Considering how good options there are for Wormwood to spend his insight points and also how much food sources there are, His plant crafting skills feel more like a cosmetic thing to me. I think that if klei have given us another crafting station for plant crafting intstead, it would have been better for everyone. Those skills add no replayability to Wormwoods gameplay and suffers the same issue from Wilson's Alchemy tab. You just do pick and switch. And never touch them ever again. Thankfully you just answered yourself, the majority of them are indeed stat changes or random craftables because they are things that already exist within the characters perks, the craftables require items to craft(obviously), and the rest are mostly making their "good" into "better", so your definition "create value out of thin air" is innate ability from the character perks, not from the skill tree perks. But currently, we do have some skills that actually creates value out of thin air which are Wilson's beard storage and Wilson's torch upgrades, Wolfgang leg day, Woodie tree guard perks(the first two) as well as the quicker pick path and finally Wormwood Photosinthesis. And they are not gamebreaking, petal production was simply better than all of those by a mile. Especially for Wormwood. 3 hours ago, arubaro said: nothing you listed sounds op. It was useful but overpowered? lol It was very good at too many things and it would step on other skills feet(A.K.A lightbug one and funny poop joke one). 2 hours ago, mkemal23 said: As for the Wormwood, I don't really play him but I have to say that it's so sad to see how he lost five potential unique abilities to just plant crafting. Yeah, this is one thing that I really did not like. 2 hours ago, mkemal23 said: Those skills add no replayability to Wormwoods gameplay and suffers the same issue from Wilson's Alchemy tab. With Wormwood the only really usable on a "daily" basis is the reed production(like every time your bananas are grown). the rest is just things that he never uses. You can optimize mushroom planters where they become self renewing. With 6 planters, 6 saplings and 2 compost bins you never have to worry about food again. You can eat 5/6 planters just make sure to use one mushroom to place back in the planter. The sixth planter is for making logs. Adding with twigs in the bins, and leaving one back in the planter, you'll get 40hp of compost aka two living logs. By the time they need to be replenished with a log you have enough (+extra) living logs on hand. You can use a tent for better gains but tents themselves require some stuff so up to you. If you don't need extra logs, once you have 6 living logs just use the 6th planter to renew the mushrooms on all planters. No net required. Edit: With mushroom multiplier branch.
