Respawning should give at least a few seconds of light when it is nighttime to allow you to find a better source

Recommended Posts

Currently when you respawn at nighttime through the use of a lifegiving amulet, meat effigy, or touchstone, after the animation has worn off it will be pitch black immediately. That means that unless some sort of preexisting light source is nearby, such as fireflies or a fire pit that is still lit, you cannot do things such as pick up a torch off the ground or enter a nearby tent meaning you will be killed again immediately by darkness. This makes it much more likely for deaths to cascade into each other wasting multiple methods of resurrection even if you try to prepare for it. While this isn't so bad in a multiplayer world where you can wait for day, it is needlessly punishing in a singleplayer survival world where you are racing against the world reset timer.

There is one way to be prepared for it which is to build but not place a fire pit before you die as dying doesn't remove the structures you have built, but that feels pretty unintuitive and unintended.

A supernatural post-resurrection glow, much like for players who join a server at night, seems like the obvious solution. Until such a fix is made though, having your meat effigy and/or life giving amulets placed near a lantern or fire pit with fuel nearby, or having them close to a touch stone, and having fireflies nearby so you can see them, is probably the best that can be done until glowcaps and enlightened shards are available.

I put my life amulets near the celestial orb. As it requires no fuel nor being picked up.

Neat. What do you do with them before you beat the Celestial Champion, thereby upgrading the celestial orb so it emits light when nearby?

dont die :troll:

Looks like some skill issue.

Jokes aside, I didn't know that it worked like that.

as per my lights out worlds: I reccomend placing a life giving amulet in a patch of fireflies. They provide infinite light but disappear after a few seconds, you can find and respawn easily, and then you just have a lantern next to it. if you wanna be safe, have two patches, one with the amulet and one with the lantern.

Cheers!

Yeah, this is particularly burdensome in Lights Out worlds or in the caves. Back in singleplayer, the Darkness world would at least place a Maxwell's Light near each touchstone.

if you die a lot bring with you a lantern.. it is dropped when you die giving you light

for meat effigies use them in day time ( most of the time you have time to wait) or build lamp, astral detectors or drop fireflies

you can also asume you die and werent prepare to revive

reviving doesn't need to be even more trivial. At this point you might also ask for god mode after reviving like some people asked...
