Some ideas to play around with for the Maxwell skill tree ( Feel free to add more or refine some of the ideas )

.Maxwell being able to do something with shadow creatures ( terror beaks and nightmare crawlers ) like possibly tame them with nightmare fuel or live animals that are in inventory or just be able to de-agro them

 

.Maxwell having more codex umbra efficiency so maxwell uses 2 durability instead of 5

 

.Maxwell being able to craft shadow items for cheaper and or accessing them quicker 

 

.Maxwell should also gain the ability to tame clockwork knights and bishops ( with gems or gears ) but only two at a time ex: one bishop and one knight or two of one.

 

.Maxwell should gain the ability to pacify clockworks (until he attacks one the ofcourse) 

 

.Maxwells duelists doing more base damage

 

.Maxwells duelists having more base health

 

.Maxwells duelists and servants lasting longer

 

.Maxwells shadow prisons lasting longer

 

.Maxwell should have the ability to craft nightmare fuel with dark petals without the need for a shadow manipulator 

 

.Maxwells duelists, servants and shadow sneak get a larger range of effect 

 

.Maxwell does more damage and has more durability of efficiency with shadow items

 

I just want two things. Only two things:

First one - add a comand in Umbra to insta despawn all current shadow puppets

When u hit by mistake a grumble bee in Beequeen fight or the last volt goat in the horde, or gathering logs and just want the tguards fast it can get tricky to despawn servers and start the fight. Cuz seriously they are small and quick. Can take ages to despawn then all by clicking.

 

Second one - all of the bonus damage the duelists get from whats Maxwell is wearing is planar darkness. Not moving a single number, just make it planar.

And here we go perfect, polished and ready while not op at all

I personally think having passives that make existing abilities stronger in the skill tree is bad design. If those abilities were lackluster in the first place, they should have been balaced in the base ability itself rather than adding more strength using the skill tree. I had some ideas for Maxwell in one of my posts:

Maxwell will have the ability to summon the big inkblight. This will disable his ability to summon his regular puppets. His sanity cant be restored nor reduced at this time, but it will drain over time. Nightmare monsters wont attack maxwell during this time. Once sanity reaches zero, inkblight will automatically despawn and maxwell returns to normal.

Shadow affinity: when maxwell wears any shadow gear, shadow summons will deal an additional 10 planar dmg each.

 

Interesting ideas, guys. I have some of my own, also thought about interactions with shadow creatures, and other stuff. I'll create a post about in the near future.

 

As far as I see, skill trees only bring buffs. Though i'm a Maxwell main, I think he is just too good. His low hp only holds you back in the early game, and later you are the king of everything. OP, rivaled only by other OP mechanics. It seems Klei took a power creep course, which saddens me somewhat.

All of these are straight buffs to existing things to the strongest character in the game or are something other characters can already do, even the clockwork thing. I don't think this is the right direction.

I would like the Void armor to give Maxwell 90% protection and more planar protection

An alternative would be a new armor that outperforms Void's armor. I think this armor would give a strong sanity debuff to other characters besides Maxwell and Wanda.

I would prefer the first option as I like the design of the Void armor.
