how will skill trees be balanced around future updates?

Recommended Posts

i've been thinking about this for a bit, y'know how wormwood has the cool interactions with brightshade? it's pretty cool, and other characters are probably going to get some sort of gear interaction too (wanda and maxwell with the void stuff, and some other characters with brightshade stuff)

now, how will they balance this around future updates?

i don't know what their vision for future updates is, but if it involves adding new, powerful items, i think there'll be some discrepancy between older skill trees and newer ones (basically winona-ism)

like, what if they add the spoonbongle tree that drops spoonbongle cones, that can be made into spoonbongle armor and weapons. how will these characters that have a specific gear interaction work with it? do they have to stick with worse gear or move on with the new stuff? of course it can just be better than using brightshade/void stuff, but they'll lose the uniqueness that they had previously in a part of the game where every character is supposed to be sort of equal (except wolfgang and possibly wanda)

i dunno, i'm probably overthinking this or being styoopid, it's just an interesting thought that i had recently

I suspect it will depend largely on whether the current gear we have is the first tier, or meant to be equal to any gear added later. In which case Wormwood's brightshade-specific buffs would still be useful since brightshade would remain viable. That having been said, most of the skill trees seem to relate to early game stuff, with the exception of Wolfgang. I suspect these skill trees are moreso intended for the ability to pick allignment, rather than provide particular gear buffs. Klei did mention we weren't getting the full picture in regards to the brightshade/shadow gear, and I sincerely doubt the 10% damage buff you get from allignment is what they meant by that.
