Sacco Posted July 16, 2023 Share Posted July 16, 2023 I really like the idea of skill trees, they add a level of costumization and depth that has never seen before for every character. But, there are some things i don't like about them. First of all, i think every character shouldn't be able to keep skills from world to world, and every insight point should be resetted. Why? I think this change would make the progression of skills funnier and not just a one time thing, also giving a goal to the player. Second point: remove the ability to gain skill trees with the passage of time. I think this change will probably fix the problem about skill trees, i mean the fact that skill trees say one thing to the beginner:"the longer you survive STAYING AT BASE AND DOING NOTHING the longer your character becomes powerful", and to intermediate players they don't give any stimulation to progress with the game. So, how do i get skills now? By killing bosses or taking part in a boss fight in case of a multiplayer server and also by unlocking new science tiers. Every boss killed gives 1 insight (mini bosses are not included) and when you craft something for the first time which can be unlocked STAYING near to a science station, alchemy engine, prestihatitator and shadow manipulator you gain 1 insight too (you gain only 1 insight max per prototipation for every science tier) If you craft something for the first time near a pseudoscience station or the Lunar Altar you gain 2 insights, to make new players more interested at visiting ruins/lunar Island. Now i'd like to talk about single skill trees of every character except Wilson. starting with woodie: i like his skills, but i don't like the curse embracer, it just removes some disadvantages caused by eating idols, so i'd like to see this skill removed. Talking about his affinities: the "Lunar Renegade" one Is busted: you are just immune to full moons, so to fix it i'd like to give this immunity only to artificial moons like the Moon storm moons and wickerbottom's full moons. The "Shadow Wrangler": i like this affinity a lot more compared to Lunar Renegade because i find it funnier to use in fights, but It is underpowered, so to make It better i'd give it the ability to make JUST one single Nightmare creature your allies in wereform, this is only applied to insanity creatures and not the ruins' one, they'll just stay neutral. wormwood: There are too many filler skills, like the one who gives you the ability to tend farm plots. Remove the skill which gives you the crafting of monkey tails and instead replace it with the crafting of grass tuft like a lot of people suggested. Wolfgang: the single skill which is VERY VERY STRONG is the one who gives you more planar damage. i'd say, lower the amount of planar damage it gives you but make coaching skills better, giving the player the ability to use the whistle even when mighty and MAYBE give the +10% movement speed when mighty, but i'm not sure about that. These are just my opinions about new skills, feel free to go against me if you think i said something stupid or if i said something wrong. I Don't speak english as first language, so i have probably done a lot of errors.
