amorek
The idea is that buildings connected to the automation ribbon would be able to send state or take additional input on bit #2, #3 and #4 of the ribbon. Let's consider Aquatuner - with single automation wire, you can send enable/disable signal. With ribbon, AT could send for example: Bit #1 - Enable/Disable input - this is always the same as single automation wire Bit #2 - Is Working signal Bit #3 - Is overheating signal Bit #4 - N/A Smart Battery could be like #2 - Is charging #3 - Is full #4 - is discharging These are just examples of possible state outputs, while the idea is about enabling that through the ribbon. Possible state signals could involve things like: Is Working Is overheating Has active errand Has production order Is missing Resource Or other machine specific states. Can you give some practical examples where you would use these kinds of additional signals?
