ArcAngela
Hello, I am the creator of Meme Language (I know, not a real language) and I have a problem that seems to be affecting every language mod in the workshop right now. This has been going on for well over a year by now and I was reluctant to speak up cause I hoped the workshop with much better programmers than me would eventually find a solution for this, or the devs would catch on and fix this, but neither of which has happened and the problem is growing. Some strings from strings.pot don't work, they do not get translated. It's a pretty simple problem; some string translations do not work, they're not being translated with my own submitted translations, this is most obvious in the Server Creation menu, if you attempt to translate and change the strings related to the options provided like the "Standard" or "Relaxed" setting for a world, the translation does not go through, the game overwrites it to default no matter what. I have an assumption that a bug is preventing workshop languages from replacing certain strings in the game, or the game has hard-coded some of these strings, preventing translation, I do not know why. Obviously I use these translations to make fun of things, but here is proof of this issue with an up-to-date Latino Spanish translation from the workshop: ( Worth noting that in the comments the creator has spoken that they did translate this screen, but for some reason, the game does not want to use their translations. The same is happening to me. ) It's very weird that this is happening to a very important screen in the game for people to understand, but even worse: Wilson's entire skilltree has the same problem. So this issue is getting worse as time goes by and I would like to raise attention to this, I don't know if it's a bug, maybe its dev oversight, maybe there is a solution that we language modders can use so the game stops overwriting our custom strings, I don't know. If there's any dev that I could contact or mention here in the forums so they could take a look at this, please let me know. Worth noting that this is NOT happening to all newly added strings, so far I seem to randomly encounter this problem when translating new content added from updates, so this is a recent problem; some strings get translated and replaced as intended, others don't work no matter what. While I understand that this isn't that serious of a problem for me and my mod, it is a serious problem for everyone else in the workshop translating this game to support different languages, we literally cannot change some strings because they just refuse to be overwritten by our mods, so far I encountered this in the Server Creation Menu, World Presets and their descriptions, and all over Wilson's new skilltree. I'd appreciate if some light could be shined on this, I'm not sure if I should report this as a bug.
