Disruption Channeler (My take on the moonstorm rod concept)

Recommended Posts

The whole moonstorm lightning rod concept has been around for a while and I wanted to give my take on it: The Disruption Channeler

Note that this concept does strongly incorporate the new beta update.

How to obtain: The blueprint for the Disruption Channeler is dropped by Wagstaff upon meeting him after getting enough restrained static to build the lunar siphonator with the dialogue "You may want this for the future" or something else vague.

Stage 1: Can be crafted with 1 restrained static, 10 infused moon shards and 4 electric doodads. Will drag active storms about 5 screens toward it and cause future storms to spawn with that movement already applied (if that makes sense).

Stage 2: Can be made by upgrading stage 1 like the incomplete experiment with 2 brightshade husks and 4 pure brilliance. After building it, one can insert the celestial orb to activate it's extended function. It is also easily removable for crafts and the lunar siphonator. Note that removing the orb will reset the storms to their previous position. Upon activating, this stage will permanently summon a moonstorm above it that will suck in 3 moonstorms and grow in size if the event is active. The remaining moonstorms will be dragged 20 screens instead of 5. Additionally, if a lunar rift (beta) becomes active it will float above the Channeler and spawn the usual flooring and enemies.

Why?: Players have wanted a way to stop rifts from destroying their base. Others think it's part of the survival experience. To provide a middle ground between these groups, the crafting recipes are difficult and the moonstorms are only pulled instead of removed. One also has to experience each event to get the materials needed to build the Channeler. Additionally, this gives the new late-game items that were introduced a use. The use of the celestial orb is to prevent the spamming of channelers that would make the storms to easy to avoid. One could also strategically set up multiple and switch between theme to direct storms away from the base.

If anyone notices any inconsistencies we can discuss them in the comments.

Edit: Brightning rod may be a better name
