Dupe Intelligence Slider

Recommended Posts

Long time player, I appreciate the QOL updates and updates along the way.

Can we make a Duplicant intelligence slider? I get a main feature of ONI is playing with an 'OMGmy dupe messed this up- must fix it' but we have sliders for so many things like germs, radiation, hunger. Why not a slider to capture how malevolent or dumb our dupes are?

I am sure we've all seen the dupe pee in his water supply, drop something important while catching his/her breath, or path in ways that just waste time (watching a dupe try to collect vole meat in space without a suit, only to run low on breath, have to run back for O2, then decide to go back for the meat, rinse repeat). Or dupes trapping themselves or their peers, going into ridiculously dangerous biomes.

I think allowing players to adjust their duplicant experience it would greatly add depth to the game, while allowing ONI purist, or masochists to really try their hand with adjustable intelligence settings.

It could range from

Asteroid idiot- Duplicant will literally entomb themselves put their peers in danger and partake in downright suicidal missions.  peeing in your water supply is probably the least of your worries. You have to be on your toes with these dupes.

Aloof - slightly lowered settings

Normal- No changes to duplicant pathing, priorities, or scripted AI

Thinkers- Dupes will path to the more optimized areas and changes of duplicant death is minimized. Dupes can keep themselves busy (will assist others instead of idle, boost others productivity or take additional downtime).

Big Brains- Dupes will not follow orders which will put them in cyclical patterns, will avoid trapping or being trapped when working. Will build with optimized materials  (introduce a setting for closest material, highest melting point, etc)
