What can i do if the game crashes?

Hi

When i play alone the game works perfectly, but, when i try to play with friends (even if i host the server), the game crashes after a few days in game, then if i try to enter the server again, the game crashes on the loading screen.

 

I reinstalled DirectX and the problem still persists.

What should I do?

Hello @Danyerkill, welcome to the forums.

There are a lot of variables involved that could be causing your crash. Is it a straight crash to desktop, or were you able to see a crash long on screen? Eitherway, the log files will show what could be causing the issue:

1. Server_log.txt file  - found in Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\Cluster_#\Master wherein # corresponds to the Slot # you used to HOST the server.
2. Client_log.txt file - found in Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\
3. Dxdiag.txt file - In order to create a DXDiag on Windows:
   • - Click on your Start button
   • - Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to access the "Run" window
   • - On the new window, type in dxdiag.exe and press enter; this will open up the DirectX diagnostic tool
   • - Click on the "Save All Information" tab on the diagnostic tool
   • - A "Save As..." window will pop up where you can click on save. It will save your hardware information as a document to your desktop (default).
   • - Close the diagnostic tool and attach the new document to your forum post or support ticket.

These three files could show why the game is crashing. But you posted this in the wrong section unfortunately. For now, get those log files and then follow below:

• Open this link ► Don't Starve Together - Klei Bug Tracker - Klei Entertainment Forums 
• Then click ADD BUG at top right.
• Add your information
• Attach your log files (server_log.txt, client_log.txt and dxdiag.txt)
• Scroll to bottom
• Click Send
