johninbaltimore
Pressure flush toilets can remove more waste with less water. They work by using a sealed plastic tank full of air at atmospheric pressure, which pressurizes when displaced by water from the plumbing. Upon flushing, the water is forced into the bowl at high pressure, clearing waste and scaring my cat with the loud noise. As little as 3.8kg of water can be used reliably. A pressure flush toilet could could be discovered via Advanced Sanitation, using less water (but producing the same additional from duplicant's food intake), thus reducing the sand needed to clean the water. High-pressure mist showerheads are another innovation in real life that also could minimize sand usage.
