Unable to give items to mobs

While the latest beta update has added some phenomenal changes, such as the reworked AG, integrated backpack, and being able to craft items in chests, there's one bug in this beta that has soured most of these additions for me. When giving items to mobs or structures such as pigs, PK, birds, and the Altar of Snackrifice, the player character will walk up to them and fail to give them the item. While I can go underground and find more gold or make other high hunger dishes like honey ham, not being able to appease the altar could lead to devastating consequences if not dealt with. Has anyone else experienced this bug? I haven't seen anyone mention it in the recent beta topic and really believe it should be addressed.

Bug fixed. It will be in the beta branch in the next hotfix.
