CyberSkink
Hi, I have been playing Don't Starve Together locally with my Steam Deck and Windows PC. At first, this issue arose when I put the compatibility version on Steam Linux Runtime, now the issue is on every compatibility mode. The issue is as follows: 1. I host DST on my windows PC and then join the online world with my steam deck. 2. I open the caves and the Steam Deck player goes into the caves. 3. If you're unlucky (most of the time you are) the game will go to a "Connecting…" screen for a while and then finally go to a "Server Not Responding" screen and force you to the main menu after hitting the button you see in the picture. 4. If you go back into the world, you will have moved from the caves/surface (whichever one you were on before) into the other shard. I have not been able to reproduce this issue when: Playing on an offline (or LAN) server. Playing on a public server. Hosting my server on the Steam Deck. Using Geforce now to act as a third computer I have tried (in no particular order): Restarting my computer Changing Steam Deck compatibility versions (including the default one) Installing proton GE and using it Uninstalling the game and reinstalling it Uninstalling my antivirus software Installing VS and DX Redist again Deleting/uninstalling all my DST mods Posting on the Klei forums about it several times Turning off/on Wifi on my PC (I use ethernet on my PC) Looking on the Klei discord for answers I haven’t tried (and why): Hosting on a third physical computer near me (I don’t have access to one) Playing a third computer with the PC as host (I don’t have access to a third computer) Tampering with the game files (that might break the game) What I can’t do to fix it: Buy a new computer Buy another Steam Deck Anything that involves spending an obscene amount of money (in comparison to the issue at hand) If you have any questions, please ask them. I do not want you to be kept in the dark on this issue.
