Easier and simpler isn't always better. That said, maybe a new construct is in order! A sort of wheeled platform that a single structure can be built upon and can be slowly pushed/dragged by players to new locations, Wolfgang would unsurprisingly be much more effective at moving it. Maybe it could also be pulled by a tamed beefalo.
