fun caps dont produce spores when placed on manequins, is this intended ?

On the late game the way i always farmed spores for glowcaps was building a little pigman village, bait the pig men and give them the mushroom hats, after the manequins were introduced i though i could make more of a petite and cheaper spore farm with them, however it seems that when given to manequins they dont produce any.

Since items like the turf eraser hat, lanterns or miner hats still triger their effect when manequins wears them i would like to ask if this was an intended mechanic?

Unrelated to this topic but it will be a very nice thing if we could wax the hats to wear them as cosmetics (loosing its effects)

I don’t think lantern and miner hat has lights when on mannequin
