Improvements to beefalo taming

Recommended Posts

Lately I have been invested in beefalo domestication, be it in solo games or on semipublic servers and while it is mostly enjoyable, I have encountered some issues:

  1. It is very easy to lose a lot of progress by accidentally attacking the beefalo, this issue is even greater on public servers with a lot of fighting going on in one spot.
  2. Furthermore, there is a lot of griefing potential in shaving beefalo that are being domesticated.
  3. While it is possible to visually differentiate beefalo by name or using the year of the beefalo cosmetics, the same isn’t the case for the beefalo bell. This can cause trouble when multiple players domesticate beefalos.

Since I don’t want to only complain I gathered some suggestions about how to prevent some of these problems:

  1. Change the criteria to target beefalo wit domestication > 0% to what is required to initiate a fight with a befriended pig, Glommer or Chester (Force attack + clicking on them)
  2. Prevent beefalo with domestication > 0% from being shaven.
  3. Add the name of the beefalo, and maybe the name of who bonded it, to the bell. I’d also love if the design of the beefalo bell could be changed for easier differentiation. It would be nice to have a separate beefalo bell skin for each year of the beefalo skin.

Thank you for reading my suggestions. I would appreciate if some of them get added as they would make the domestication process less stressful and keep the beefalo safe from malicious or oblivious players, especially on public servers.

I'm also interested in seeing if other people have run into similar troubles or if this is an issue specific to me and the people I play with.

Thanks to Lovens for helping me out with this post!
