Viewing beefalo's health/healing it while mounted

Is there a reason for beefalo's current health not displaying when you are fighting on top of it? Is it a design decision or just an oversight by developers?

When you hop on a boat in DST, you can see its current health and react accordingly when it starts dropping down. When you summon Abigail as Wendy, you can see her health and can figure out when you need to unsummon her/apply a tincture to heal. Unfortunately, you cannot do the same with beefalo when you mount it (without additional mods).

Would have been a very nice QoL feature:

1) To be able to at least see beefalo's current health to at least have an idea of when to back off from the fight and give it a break. In some fights you can leave and dismount it and then apply some healing, or continue fighting without beefalo. 

2) To be able to feed beefalo on the go without dismounting it and hop back into the fight, just like we can heal ourselves during the fight. The feeding animation could be interrupted (for example, if you get hit or if beefalo bucks you off) just like it happens with your character.

How? Whenever I mount a beefalo, I can't see its health when I hover over it. Here's without any mods (server or client) - before mounting and when mounted:

Even the mods like Show Me don't do it, they only show beefalo stats when you hover an unmounted beefalo.

While in combat on top of beefalo, I do get a red glow at the edges of the screen every time my beefalo gets hurt, and the hit sound, but I don't see any numbers/health bars anywhere. On the wiki I read that screen corners will turn red and my character will comment on it when the beefalo gets to low hp, and realized it never happened to me. I don't know at which threshold it's supposed to happen so I always backed off from the fight too early only to dismount and find out that my beefalo still has like 500 health. The character comments are very easy to miss in the fight, and the red glow is not informative at all if the if corners already glow red every time beefalo gets hit.

I tested it out in combat without any mods. My edges were always glowing red as I let Dragonfly land hits on my beefalo. After backing off the edges continued glowing red. But again I couldn't see any health displayed at all, anywhere. I dismounted and the health wasn't showing either. I assume since Wes doesn't talk, you won't see this warning when playing as him (I know it's a part of the challenge but then you basically won't know when your beefalo is about to die). Wickerbottom's quote is not informative either - she states that beefalo needs healing (duh) but I don't know for how much - should I feed it 2 dragonpies or a few blue caps? Will it die if I let the enemy hit it once more and should I just ditch my fight entirely?

I found a mod that shows exactly what I want (with additional info though, like domestication, obedience, tendency and buck timer but I find those redundant) - a little icon which shows beefalo health when I hover over it:

It would be cool to see it in the base game (without the mods) but have it below your stats similar to how boat and Abigail status bars are displayed, and have a beefalo head maybe. Something like that (excuse my poor photoshop skills):

It would make a lot of sense considering we still have a separate health bar for boats and Abigail in addition to character warnings (when the boat gets hurt or Abigail gets to low health, your character also comments on that but you can also see the exact amount of health left in numbers to react accordingly). 

Another thing to consider would be the cost of losing a fully tamed beefalo. It takes a lot of time and dedication to tame one, and you'd expect the game to acknowledge that. It takes two clicks and 4 boards to craft a basic boat raft, and it takes only 3 days to fully max Abigail's health. Yet the game acknowledges that these are valuable assets and it's important for the player to see their current health and its dynamic during the gameplay. It takes the minimum of 15 days to tame a beefalo, isn't it wrong that it's not considered an equally valuable asset?
