Fencing sword combat ability idea

Recommended Posts

Right click with cursor where you want to peform the fencing dodge.
At time you input the move two hitboxes occur to be at your original positon and position your character should end up in.
It would determine outcomes based on where your character is and where it would be after the finished step, requiring you to have starting position and ending position hitboxes during the animation.
After the special dodge step, you'll be still for a brief moment to prevent it from making you run faster than normal by spamming dodge.
Timing the ability to get JUST ONE of your hitboxes intentionally hit would provide fun interactions.

Position A=Where your character was during input
Position B=Where your character will be after the animation.

  1. A + B inside the enemy's attack range: You will simply just get hit
  2. Only A or Only B inside the enemy's attack range: Dodging out or dodging into attacks will grant you no post dodge lag + turn your next dodge into a special fleche attack which will have more range than dodge and maybe bonus damage(the ability to reengage faster to land an extra hit is already quite a reward but a little dmg would give it an "Oomph"). You could use that lunge to dodge further away or to reengage faster than with other weapons.

The fleche could also trigger off itself. As if you dodged out of an attack and riposted right into another allowing you to chain fleche into another fleche as long as you're awaiting an attack outside of the range. You can't spam it since it would require you to aim outside the enemy's range which would make you miss your damage or would need you to leave enemy's range normally to attack into it. Also fishing for chained fleches for no reason would make your dps suffer, in time you'd hit deerclops like 4 times with normal attack instead. Bonus damage has to be good enough to encourage using up the special dodge attack instead of storing one for emergency which would encourage people to do single dodge and then just avoid damage by walking outside of the range and attacking normally as we do now.

The fleche would deal increased damage to bosses but it would pass through small enemies dealing normal damage yet allowing to hit multiple ones if positoned in straight line.
