I think they need to fix auto save in the next update cause that's usually when the game crashes and that day will probably be on the 30th...

I concur that is a very big pain I can get back into my world but have to constantly re-do all the stuff I just completed.  Hopefully they will fix it soon.  I started a separate world because I don't want to have the same issues as others and have to re-do 786 game days lol.  Fingers crossed it will get fixed.  They are usually pretty good about keeping on top of things.

Man, I have no clue how you can play with that lag. It's literally unplayable. I bought it within the week it was released, tried to start a world twice then gave up and kept playing on PC with 0 lag whatsoever. I feel like if they just added the option to not enable caves it'd help a ton but as of right now, It's unplayable.

"Bad Luck" has nothing to do with the terrible performance of a game. Maybe you're just used to it, but it's definitely there. Have you ever actually played it on PC?

Quick question- have you ever played the game on anything besides PC yourself? Not counting switch- is it as laggy on PS4/Xbox One or PS5/Xbox Series X/S or is Switch version more laggy?

Switch version is still very new and Klei is still fine tuning and working to improve it, however.. the game has always been laggy on Xbox/PlayStation & I just want to know if Switch is worse in lag or about the same?

If it’s about the same: then your just too use to playing on PC to adapt to the lag that console players have had since day 1, but if it’s MORE laggy then hopefully Klei gets it to be on the same Lagginess as Xbox/PS

I played it on the PS4 years ago but don't personally own one, so I can't remember how bad the lag was but I don't remember having a bad experience but playing it on the switch is a terrible experience. I'm not just 'used to playing it on PC', I'm used to playing the game how it was meant to be played, just because it's on a console doesn't excuse the fact that it has terrible lag, hell, just look at don't starve on the switch. There's absolutely no lag there, and (I think) it has to do with the fact that you're running a server and the game at the same time if you're playing solo. Like I mentioned, updating it to the version where you can remove caves would really help with the lag but as of right now, it's literally unplayable. You might be able to get used to it, if you like getting hit for no reason and like waiting a full second before you can pick up an item or chop a tree, but as of right now I wouldn't recommend the switch version to anyone, even if it's the only version you can play, when the original don't starve is already on the switch. The only good thing about the switch version is that you can link your nintendo account to your steam account and collect daily skin drops if you aren't able to get to your PC.

i played ds on switch for months before dst came on switch if i had game breaking lag i would tell

Lol.. this isn’t the same thing, DST is an online game EVEN if you choose to play in an offline world it’s going to lag- it does this even on Xbox Series consoles & the PS5.

I can give you a logical reasoning behind why, which would be instead of needing to load a world and it’s resources for a single player it has to load that world for every player on the server so they all see the same thing.

Some big named games have “cut corners” when it comes to multiplayer, such as GTA 4 vehicles not appearing the same color on your friends screen as they are on yours after you drive them out of the pay n spray- or GTA V where your friend will see you smash into scenery and damage your car while on your screen you haven’t hit anything and your car is in perfect condition.

The only way you would even KNOW that it’s happening is be like me and play the game in the same house but online with friends or family in the same room with TVs next to each other to compare what you see to what they’re seeing.

Since DST does not have an actual true to life Offline single player mode where the world and all its content is adjusted for a single player (maybe someday) your going to get that multiplayer lag..

Unfortunately this isn’t exclusively a switch problem- PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series all share in lag moments- While the single player game is Lag Free.

If you enjoy DST though.. you’ll find a way to manage and predict the lag to a point where it just becomes part of playing the game to you.

(why the devs even have a setting for Lag Compensation probably..)

I don’t own a Nintendo switch so I unfortunately could not tell you if it is any more laggy then the other console versions but what I do know is switch is limited to 4 players where Xbox & PS have 6- this is due to console limitations of the switch, But I mean hey: Switch has On the Go portable play that the other consoles do not.

And because of Switch versions existence, all versions may someday soon have skins/characters useable in offline mode.

I hope this helps to better explain why DST lags without me sounding too confusing, but also: Switch version is still relatively new and could still need a few patches to smooth out the experience more.

I've been playing the original don't starve since early alpha/access, I know when the game is lagging, my guy. You just don't notice it cause you either used to it, or it doesn't bug you when you get hit by a spider when you're standing 5 meters away from it and it takes you 20 seconds to chop a tree down.
