how do you use boomerages

i want to use the boomerangs they seems good for getting agro of enemies and i know you can catch them so they dont hit you but how do you do that in switch??? ive tried to catch it but it always hits me how do i use it properly?

With the A button. I can't tell you where the exact spot is to press the button because I'm still getting used to it, but I've managed catching it some times without getting hurt

After you throw it hold down (A) button until you catch it!  "Works every time  "
