This one was an idea that I hoped to implement as a mod some time ago, but as I lack time and resources I think it’d be dope if we just have it here instead. My primary motivation is that I want summonable tallbirds. Those Australian murderbirds are perfect for bringing havoc to a world that’s already set on destroying us, and I think bringing tallbirds in is exactly what this Maxwell-forsaken world needs. Basically: Woik is a pig guard that experimented with dark arts, causing him to be banished from the Pig King’s brethen. His vocabulary is simple, much like that of other pig guards. Medium-low health, low-ish sanity (possibly 80), very high hunger meter. 1.2x hunger meter always. He has some crafting abilities, some of which are multistep and involve telltale hearts, and has staves (of low durability) that can be used for different summons, accordingly draining hunger and most of sanity bar. The bigger the summon, the more sanity and hunger is drained. At insanity threshold, loses sanity 3x as quickly, and eats 2x as fast. Attacks 1.6x as hard, strikes at normal speed, but recovers 2x slower between strikes. (Encourages kiting and mob synergy.) Some of reference summons: rabbit, frog, spider, hound, depth worm, tallbird. Summons made when near structures take a large health and medium hunger penalty, and aggros new creations on summoner. Sample crafting ideas (names are very work-in-progress): Essence of Life: 1 telltale heart, 3 reed, 3 nitre. Intermediate crafting item. Rabbit Staff: 1 live rabbit, 1 ice staff, 1 essence of life. Summons 1 rabbit and 1 lightning strike on right-click (default for all summons); 20 durability. Rabbit probably catches on fire unless a lightning rod is nearby. Drains 30 sanity, 15 hunger per use. Frog Staff: 4 frog leg, 1 ice staff. Summons frog; 3 uses. Drains 20 sanity, 15 hunger. Spider Staff: 4 silk, 1 ice staff. Summons spider; 3 uses. Drains 30 sanity, 20 hunger. Hound Staff: 4 hound tooth, 1 spear, 4 monster meat. Summons hound; 3 uses. Drains 40 sanity, 20 hunger. Cave Staff: 4 large glowberries, 1 fire staff, 1 essence of life. Summons depth worm; 3 uses. Drains 50 sanity, 80 hunger. Tallbird Staff: 6 tallbird eggs, 1 fire staff, 1 essence of life. Summons tallbird; 3 uses. Drains 80 sanity (or all sanity), 75 hunger. Staff of Nest: 8 tallbird eggs, 1 mooncaller staff, 3x essence of life. Summons tallbird nest. The playstyle is very much like normal gameplay, but interspersed with distractions from summons. The idea is for hostile mobs to fight each other, and Woik sneaks in occasional melee attacks; well-timed attacks will mean that summoned monsters will re-draw aggro before the enemy retaliates on Woik. Perhaps it’ll be food-based combat, but survivor synergy is still something to be worked on. If it’s not worked into base game, and any modders want to implement this too, go ahead- just credit me with the idea, thanks!
