Unplayable from first launch

Just bought it on steam for PC. Cant do anything because the UI is messed up in controller mode. I unplugged controller, nothing happened. I rebooted without controller still stuck in controller mode with flickering screen and unable to do anything, wont take commands, wont let me into settings. Unplayable. The whole screen just flickers when i move my mouse around trying to get to menues. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the game with my xbox controller disconnected, same issues. Never ever had an issue like this before in any of the hundreds of games ive played, really weird.
