Allow delivery of liquid bottles and solids to refrigerator ( or refrigation unit ).

Recommended Posts

This is a far-out ballasting and liquid cooling concept.

Liquids such as water could be stored in the fridge for manual delivery of cold water to things like the ice maker to improve production time.

Or for delivery of cold water to micro-scale sleet wheat plots.

Or for utility purposes such spilling cold water to cool the overheating base.

Brine or liquids, for instance, could be stored to improve the cold retention of refrigerators such that the food does not heat up as quickly when power is lost.

A refrigeration unit could also be deployed that is more industrial - and would allow bottle or solid materials delivery to cool things down like fresh ceramic, glass, metal, etc. - Limited capacity type powered storage.

You must have some crazy fun bases:) Doesn't the fridge only hold like 150Kg?  Would that even be helpful for liquids?  aren't liquids like 1000Kg per tile?  Though using the fridge to cool little containers of hot liquid for farm plots would be nice... really nice.

Yes, it can get a bit nutty around my bases, the idea really ties into trying to keep things cool in the fridge - they really shouldn't heat back up so quickly when they loose power for a little bit. as it is, the fridge temperature effects the food temperature as if there's no insulation there - after all, it's made out of a metal ore.

The bottle emptier, for example, holds 200kg of liquid, so using it in conjunction with a bottle emptier could cool down an area using drip systems or simply empty bottle on floor.

As for what it could directly be used for would be to ballast out the fridge with a liquid based coolant. This is a very different mechanism than having it in storage, though it would be interesting to be able to plop down a fridge to cool a small amount of water for certain uses. I think having a coolant such as brine water or water could add cooled weight to the storage compartment and keep things cold if only powering the fridge in a cyclical or periodic manner.
