Let plug slugs eat refined metals and have a chance to produce morphs that only feed on refined metals, but produce more power.

You will run out of metal ores eventually, but as long as you have at least one metal volcano (which is easy to find with asteroid cluster and plug a simple metal tamer on it), you can have infinite sustainability with these slugs.

After some thinking on this, i wish to add that

While i understand that would be extremely op, to counterbalance i suggest them have much lower surviving temperatures, like 20C "death zone" or even lower.

That would force to chill the area and their food so it's not the ~150-200C "fresh out of the volcano" metal.
Chance to lay morph is just low body temp like with slicksters.
