Replace Heavy Watt Joint Plate with the conductive version

Hi is it possible to simply place a Heavi-Watt Conductive Joint Plate on top of a Heavi-Watt Joint Plate to replace it? Right now, we need to delete the Joint Plate first then replace it with a Conductive version. This can cause critical power outages in parts of our base. Worse, some will probably need to open rooms with liquids or gasses.
