Hi everyone,

I'm new to the game and new to modding, and used Cheerio's Sound Mod Tutorial and Music Mod Tutorial as a guide to make my first few sound and music mods. Everything worked well and the mods ran seamlessly with DST.

All of a sudden, when I add a sound clip to the playlist in FMOD Designer, the name of the added sound clip now shown as "/" under the playlist, instead of the "xxx.wav" it's supposed to show. When I try to play it, it starts showing an error message "Error starting event: File not found". I know the sound clip is not the issue because I can play the preview sound in the "Add sound" window with no issue. Also, when I try to build the project, it now says that the "Build failed". I have attached screenshots of all the above.

A few points to note:

  • I tried to follow the Sound Mod Tutorial again which worked perfectly well before. Identical steps, same folder destinations and everything. What used to work before now has the errors stated above.
  • I can open the .fdp files of the working mods that I made, which still shows the sound file name correctly, and plays correctly. However, when I add the exact same file (same location) as a second item in the playlist, it gives me the "/" as the file name and the "file not found" error, as stated above.
  • I have tried to reinstall Don't Starve Mod Tools on Steam, as well as restart my PC. Everything remained exactly the same.

I have no idea how else to remedy this; I have searched online and cannot find any solution. I would love to continue creating mods but I am stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And if it's relevant at all, I run DST on a MacOS Catalina 10.15.4, but I run FMOD Designer through Windows 10 on Parallels Desktop.

FYI this usually means some problem with access/permissions to the file/folder of project (zzz.fdp). Try to create it in your documents folder. Happened to me because of the inner workings of elevated/non-elevated user. Seeing the "Z:" drive in screenshots above might be the issue. Possibly copy the project/files somewhere else, and after you're done copy them back.

(answering an old thread, because the problem still exists and this forum post is the _only_ google result for the message it produces, "Error starting event: File not found")
