ruslanbes
Make the tiles (wires and maybe all buildings) inherit the shade of color of the material it's built from. E.g. Granite tiles become more grayish, obsidian - darker, Sandsdown - brownish, steel object being shiny etc.. Or maybe inherit the texture of the material when it's in raw form. This has a practical sense as it will help you to find an object built from a wrong material before it overheats or breaks. You should try out a mod from my modpack: it does exactly what you described - applies color on tiles and buildings. My main motivation was to be able to tell gold amalgam machinery from copper and iron. IMO it also looks cool ;D Its especially useful now, when we have steel and space materials.
