I’m unable to place the incomplete experiment, the three celestial alters are in reasonable spots as is the mysterious energy. There are no obstacles though the placement is labeled invalid.

Steps to Reproduce

Place the three alters and later attempt to build the untested experiment. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Same here, pond in the middle of altars make it impossible to build. Can't hammer down altars after they are connected.

Whatever was going wrong on my world just got fixed in the new update, thanks Klei developers.
