Stuck outside of boundary of map unable to return. Messing around haunting a rook as a ghost

Steps to Reproduce
So when I died with a friend of mine I decided to haunt a clockwork rook it rammed into the map boundary while I was sitting there and well just look what happened afterwards.

Googled to find exactly this. We just had the same thing happen. In a cavern, my dead pal just haunted a rook and got thrown into the darkness. Even when I revived him with a Telltale Heart, he was stuck outside the cavern floor area.
