Crash occurs when using split screen on Nintendo Switch 2

Loading the game in split-screen mode with two players on a world that's been open for over 2,000 days will 100% crash.

After 1000 days, the crashes started intermittently and got worse over time, until now it doesn't work at all.

Entering the same world in single-player mode will prevent the crash.

Similarly, a small crash occurs when the date changes and the auto-save triggers. The probability increases dramatically when the Moonstorm is open.

I'm playing on Switch2.

Steps to Reproduce

- 1500+ days of split-screen, 2-player gameplay (400+ hours)

- Lunar Rift and DST Shadow Rift open.

- Mega base with many items.

User Feedback

Same issue on a 1200 day world post-update. Can load the server single player without issue, crashes 100% of the time trying to play split screen.

Rolling back one day usually lets us load in, but coupled with the occasional random crashing at the start of a new day, it's not really a satisfying fix

The pb seems to be more massive i think.

After the 1210 update (the introduction to new zone) the game is constantly crashing in split local game with the same issue with OP

For testing i create a new world with the default rules (the most default settings as possible) but with split mode.

The crash seems appears ramdomly but never in solo mode.

It's so obvious that we even ended up finding an effective workaround. When the game crashes repeatedly to the point where I can't even reconnect, I end up reconnecting solo (with a 100% chance of success), take my character and put him in the caves, reconnect in split mode, and it works!

Since 1220, this procedure requires staying solo in the cave for a few seconds (doing some crafting, for example) before reconnecting in duo mode.

I understand that the game doesn't like simultaneous loading of both players when it's the same server. Separating the servers (cave/surface) during these loading moments seems to be enough.

We play on Switch 2.

PS: random = base 50- days, base 200+ days, opening a chest, skills window, map sharing, ... as soon as it appears that an object has been added to the database of both players at the same time

im solo player

1220 update after the game crashes every time it tries to save, making it completely unplayable.
This is the worst update ever — it’s been 20 days since the update, and the issue still hasn’t been fixed.

On switch 2 AND on switch 1 (I specially pulled out my console to test) the pb is exactly the same. When the game auto save at morning i say a prayer for having no crash.

This is the BIGGEST problem because it canno't be avoided (the auto save is not skippable)

The other pb are when an object seems to be new (randomly) on server (a new craft, album new entry, new zone, new loot on boss...) So more the game is avanced less this pb occurs
I understand that is the reason my old advanced games crash quickly when i "reanimated" them because it does more "new" event (considered "new" after the game update)

The solution for that is suffering the crash and just reconnect (1 or 2 attemps) the "new" info seems to be finally validated on the database

On split game, the database is duplicated (one for each player) so more crashs occurs because the "new" datas event are more often happening (it is enough to have a new entry for one of the players and a crash occurs)

I don't understand why the developpers can't secure the saving process ? even if it is necessary to penalize the gaming experience for that (forced pause at login, control autosaving option, ...)
Ironically the game NEVER crashs when one player comes in or out of the caves or sharing maps (an heinous lag occurs but no crash). Developpers should compare the behavior of the game in these two situations (autosave vs comes in/out caves)
