Ever since I started engaging with the fumarole biome a few months back, I have come to observe a couple of issues during my time in it. All experiences and tests are on a retrofitted world on the PS5 version.
1. The regrowth is extremely slow, only two trees regrowing after complete desolation even after waiting several in-game years. I visit the biome every winter to quickly check if any more have regrown, they haven’t.
2. No geothermites at all. There has never been any geothermite in this biome for me from the start, not a single one. My understanding is that after all the fumaroles get destroyed either by the player of megablight, geothermites become the only way to generate more miasma to allow for the megablight to grow.
This is mainly a concern for those who want to farm more boulderbough seeds or use megablight to gather dreadstone efficiently. I don’t know whether these issues are unintended consequences of the biome being retrofitted on old saves or genuine bugs that also occur in newer worlds. I haven’t visited the biome on a new save.
Visit fumarole biome on an old save made before the Ancient Echoes update and check for geothermites. Harvest/cut down all boulderboughs, clear the area and re-visit once per in-game year to check for regrowth.
