If you put lets say 2 or an infinite amount of salt licks near your beefalo,and go far away for a long enough time he stops being your beefalo, after the first salt lick is gone it stops trying to use the other salt licks near by, you have to hammer the original salt lick to get him to use a new one
Steps to Reproduce
1. create salt lick and tame beefalo 2. create a second salt lick or more 3. when original salt lick is used up beefalo refuses to use 2nd or more salt licks near by (only goes after another salt lick after original hammered) (because beefalo is not going after other salt licks it looses its taming ness)
