When a Cryo tank duplicant is thawed, it gets generated with a guaranteed "Ancient Knowledge" Trait.
This, however, takes one of the possible slots for positive Traits (since dupes can have up to 3 pos. and 3 neg. traits but not more than 4) and thus reduces the total number of "true" positive traits by 1.
The trait itself seems to serve merely as an indicator for the 3 skillpoints that are added manually afterwards.
The same applies for the Hermit, however the hermits second innate trait, "chatty" is added manually on top instead of taking the slot of a positive trait like "ancient knowledge".
Gameplay wise this seems to make cryopod duplicants slightly worse than normal duplicants in the long run, as both will end up with more skillpoints than they can use (the cryopod dupe comes with the advantage of 2 more points than a printing pod dupe, allowing more skills early on), the cryo tank dupe however will always have one less positive trait.
looking at how the hermits chatty trait is added on top of the other traits;
Is this an unintended bug or intentional design?
open cryo tanks: you will always have dupes with one of their possible positive skills being replaced by the "indicator trait" "ancient knowledge", sometimes even ending up with a duplicant without any other positive trait
