When the bubbles hit the natural tile above they disappear without leaving a gas pocket. If I dig out the tile large bubbles are created and path to the left and upward. If I then dig out more tiles to the right the gas again disappears.
In the save attached the Fissure I am reporting is on the bottom left. Previously the gas pocket was forming 5 tiles to right so I dug out a chimney expecting the gas to go up it. Instead the gas just disappears.
Steps to Reproduce
In this case it seems you just need to build the marine drill.
