Weird Bakground/Air Quality Glitch

Just bought the game and have had this weird glitch since install. The air quality filter over the background keeps glitching in and out. It's really distracting and practically impossible to play through. If anyone has any clue how to fix this, I would be appreciative.

I have the same issue. Unplayable, hurts the eyes a lot with all the blinking of all the background - initially i thought it was the shinebugs glitching, but it's the "space" background.

I'm on an Imac - have been playing the game for a few years without problems.
