Unknown ruins never reveal

Many times when I find a ruins recently, a large chunk of the ruins will be labeled "unknown", and I can;t get into them, even standing in front of the door, or building or destroying everything around them. The ruins seem to think they have a DNA security door I need to unlock when they don't have any such door. See screenshots

Steps to Reproduce

I don't know why some ruins 'work' when others don't. It's very vexing. It might be centered around the vending machines, although it might be a coincidence (maybe I need to reveal terrain before emptying the machine? I dunno.)

I had the unknown rooms twice now. Had to deconstruct the door, one was a water pit with floor tiles, and use the move to in the dupe interface and force them to walk there. then the area was revealed.
