Users can get into a state of being unable to properly deconstruct or cancel builds with no obvious way of getting to a more "normal" state.
Steps to Reproduce
In the ventilation or plumbing menu select an item. Do NOT place the item. Enable cancel or deconstruct by pressing C or X (or click the Cancel or Deconstruct button) The cancel or deconstruct filter is set but all other options are grayed out. The filter options are select-able but you cannot actually deconstruct or cancel buildings. You can get out of this state by disabling the overlay.
