I started my colony when SO! didn't exist yet.
I have bought it since - but deactivated so I can continue my OG colony.
I also bought (and activated!) all the other DLCs meanwhile.
(So it's BASE+FP+BB+PP - no SO!)
The research tree I was being used to changed quite a lot.
I now have an empty "Data Science" entry that doesn't unlock anything (but needs 8 space flights to finish):
There is no 4th research skill level AFAIK - so I guess this is an oversight for my specific DLC combination: BASE+FP+BB+PP
Steps to Reproduce
Start your colony before SO! came out, then activate FP + BB + PP and continue your game.
