I installed both the new QoL update and the Neutronium Cosmetics Pack last night. I tried to resume a saved game with about 1,100 cycles of play, using the "resume game" button. I got the loading screen for a couple minutes, then the game crashed. I got a system message saying "Oxygen Not Included quit unexpectedly" with the option to send a report to Apple. This happened repeatedly, including after quitting and re-opening Steam and also after restarting the computer. Eventually I gave up and started a new game, and played for about 10 cycles with no issues. This morning I tried loading my old game from the "Load Game" menu, and it seemed to load OK (I didn't spend any time playing because I'm supposed to be working right now". After quitting without saving, I started the game again, with the intent of verifying that the old save would still load (and hoping to identify if it was maybe an error that only occurs with the Resume Game button - but I got the same crash again. This time I at least got a look at the map before it crashed; previously it crashed directly from the "Loading..." screen.
I'm playing with all the DLCs installed and enabled, but I don't have any mods.
Clearly, I should have just played when the game loaded and skipped work today.
With new QoL and Neutronium Cosmetics pack installed, open a game that was saved before those updates.
