What? Never heard of this game mechanic! They should definitely be saved with ethanol and a pack of radioactive pills!

it has been a mechanic from the start and is fairly immersive imo.

rad pills only reduce the rad intake, they dont decrease the existing rads. radiation destroys the very cells we are made of, it mirrors that behaviour from real life. look up incidents like the demon core:

the moment they were hit by the radiation blast (= reached a lethal dose of radiation)they were dead, it just took a while to die
