Hard freeze on gas pipe update

When updating gas pipes, a hard crash-to-desktop happens every single time. This happens with and without gas bridges.

There is no output_log.txt where the instructions say it should be to show.

Steps to Reproduce
Change the location or connect any gas pipes.
