Force cleaning Outhouse does not reset remaining uses

StormRiderTV
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Pending

Build: 647408

After forcing an Outhouse to be cleaned by clicking Clean Toilet, after cleaning the Outhouse continues to have the same number of uses remaining as before the cleaning, instead of being reset to 15.

Additional visual bug: after cleaning, the meter on the building graphic does not show correctly until the Outhouse has been used once.

Steps to Reproduce

See attached save file. The Outhouse on the left has 2 uses remaining. If you use Clean Toilet here and then wait for downtime, it will go out of order after two uses despite having been cleaned.

If you click Clean Toilet again just after the first cleaning, the status card will show out of order although the building graphic does not, until it has been refilled to 200kg of Dirt. At this point it will properly show 15 uses remaining and will function properly during the next downtime. If the Outhouse already had 200kg of Dirt, this occurs immediately after clicking Clean Toilet (it will cycle in and back out of the Out of Order animation).

User Feedback

I've been experiencing this bug since some time last year and have put off reporting it because I assumed it would be such a major issue that it would be patched quickly. It's gotten to the point that it's annoying, finally, so I'll add some more information I've observed.

My main issue is similar to the OP's here except that my outhouses usually show the correct number of uses after cleaning, but the usage meter still shows full until a dupe uses it the first time.

In rarer occasions, an outhouse will not show any indication that it's out of order and the "usage" meter will look as if the toilet was just cleaned. I don't notice this is a bug until my dupes start peeing all over the floor despite having 3 seemingly "fresh" outhouses. Even though hovering over the outhouse shows "out of order", the dupes don't register it as out of order and won't clean it until I force them to by clicking the button to have them manually clean it.

I'll note that if I save the game when they're in this state and then load that save, the outhouses correctly show their status, so I'm not sure if the save file included by OP will be of any help.

Something seems to be severely wrong with every aspect of the outhouses right now, perhaps because of changes made for the last DLC and how bionic dupes use them.

I couldn't edit my previous post, so I'll add some more info I just noticed here.

Upon loading that save (attached below) it did show the two outhouses as "out of order" correctly and two dupes immediately rushed to clean them. However, after cleaning them, they did not refill them with dirt. Since there's no way to tell the dupes to add dirt to the outhouses, I had to clean them a second time by clicking the button manually. There's not enough time to clean the outhouses twice without having my dupes pee all over the floor in this save.

Because the visual of the outhouses is fixed when loading a save, you won't be able to see the first issue in which the outhouses don't show as out of order, but you should be able to see the dupes clean the outhouses and not put dirt in them (unless the issue is not related to the save itself of course).

I'll also note that I have no mods enabled or installed.

This issue needs to be bumped up; cleaning gunked up outhouses does not reset their remaining uses either.

It took me a few times to wonder why my outhouses were constantly breaking and dupes peeing on the floor.

Steps: Force clean an outhouse with any uses <15 left. For quickest repro, wait until there is 1 use left.

Watch the dupes clean and restock the outhouse. It will display the same "uses" left as before.

Watch dupes use the outhouse N<15 times for the uses.

It will go Out of Order again after N times. This clean and restock will correctly reset the Outhouse.

Except visually. Possibly related: Outhouses will show the "Full" outhouse sprite (the meter in the red) until they are used by a dupe.

Attached images show:

I'm shocked this is still an issue. Since the first report there have been 8 Steam hotfixes, a major QoL update and a DLC related update.

Almost a year later, and this bug still has not been addressed. After the 'Clean toilet' order, they clean it for a long time, but the toilet is never reset.
