Food Freshness Resets By Setting to Compost and Back

Food freshness can be reset to 100% by using the "compost" designation. I don't have a storage bin labeled for composting, so when an item becomes stale(depending on how much food I have at the time this can be anywhere from 5-40%) and I tell the dupes to compost it, all that happens with the "compost" material is it sits on the ground. It might be after a cycle or two but nothing was happening to the food item. I expected it to become a rot pile and then eaten by a nearby animal but that never happened. The food stack instead stayed as is and when it was no longer set to be composted, the stack freshness was back up to 100%.

Steps to Reproduce

Setup requirements: No storage labeled to contain compost materials, No Compost Building accessible.

  • Select a stack of food or ingredients that has not hit 0%
    • I think it might only work with Sleet Wheat Grain? Something that doesn't show it's freshness values once set to compost.
  • Hit the "Compost" Button
  • Wait a period of time
    • I noticed after a couple cycles, but it happens after a few seconds
  • Select the stack again
  • Hit the "Cancel Compost" Button

Grain reset to 100%
